BEYOND YOUR MIND IS KNOWLEDGE, the true core of your being, your True Self, not the self that you have constructed to negotiate the world, but your True Self. From this True Self come thoughts and impressions, inclinations and direction. Most of what your True Self communicates to you you cannot yet hear, but in time you will learn to hear as your mind becomes still and as you develop the necessary refinement of listening and discernment."

Today I'm focusing upon my mind and my relationship with Knowledge. In order to define this relationship, an understanding of myself is required. Three years ago, when I started Steps for the first time, this step was quite puzzling to me. I found it baffling to imply that my mind was not my true self. For who am I, if not these words floating around in my head? As I've progressed through Steps, I see now that those words were merely reflections of the Ego. I once heard a wise man say life is merely an echo, and this truth resonates with me deeper and deeper every day as I progress. Not that life is insignificant, but that the deeper aspects of life such as Relationships, carry so much more weight ultimately and have an immeasurable spiritual meaning than any physical life issues.
